Take Back Your Power

Economic Recovery Starts at Home

Many of the business owners and solo-professionals I’ve had the opportunity to work with lately identify themselves as a business that is running off-track. Meaning, they are NOT enjoying a vibrant, profitable, forward moving business, that is on-track toward their bigger vision

So what, you may say…forget the bigger vision at least for now.  Isn’t everyone suffering a bit right now under these current economic conditions? Shouldn’t business owners simply be glad they’re not out of business entirely or personally unemployed like so many who counted on big-corporate America for their paychecks?

BS I say! Take your power back small business America!

Economic recovery starts at home.
This is the time to question everything. There are some things that have crept into our business and personal lives that are not serving us well. These past 2-3 years of serious economic variables have tainted our view of the world and I dare say…the way we each plug ourselves and our business into society.

Changing consumption habits, new competition, pricing and value erosion, yes, even integrity in business is suffering under the “new normal”. We need a do-over!

The Call for Action

We must STOP right now! Stop complaining, stop whining, stop playing this low-stakes game. We need to host our own game.

  1. Take stock at where you are in goal attainment --regardless if the goal is operational break-even or some version of your bigger vision
  2. Get yourself and your team re-focused on your core offerings
  3. Review your recent sales and client profiles
  4. Clarify whether you are attracting and serving your ideal clients
  5. Question every single thing in which you are investing your time, talent, and money.
  6. Focus your resources on activities that make you money
  7. Take back your power NOW and get focused on achieving your bigger vision

This post is the first in a series on the topic of taking back your power and focusing it on achieving your bigger vision. Future installments will look at getting refocused on our core offerings and ideal targets. We’ll discuss how to leverage all the good stuff in our current systems toward the bigger vision.

Will you share a specific challenge you're facing in your business due to changing economic landscape?

Have you implemented a productive counter strategy?
